The nights in wooden huts or in tents weren’t too comfortable because of very low temperatures around -25°C. Once ascended out of the sea by volcanoes, the midsection of this greek island in the Aegean flew into the air again approx. 3500 years ago because of an enormous volcanic eruption. Today the old crater- wall forms a spectacular scenery, which can be especially enjoyed by entering in the Caldera by boat or during a stay in the pictorial secluded villages above the border of the crater.

From today on there are to see many new Wildlife pictures out of these three national parks in Kenia (in all 21 Africa galleries), for example of the gnus annual migration, of a female leopard, that takes refuge on a tree from a lioness, of a serval cat, bringing the captured rat to the secondary growth, as well as bathing flamingos, playing lions, fighting hippos, hunting cheetahs and red elephants. ... I wanted to visit, but it was the warmest February since many years: no snow, no frosted waterfalls, temperatures higher than in Germany, sheep out at feed already.

I lived in this ancient fishing hut (Rorbuer) in Stamsund on the Lofoten Islands in the summer and – after many rainy days in Norway – finally I had a wonderful time: landscapes, that stimulate the senses, manyfold light because of the midnight sun, mixed up structures of night and day, stockfish, that was taken down after drying- this and much more is visible in the new portfolio Norway. Canon arranged a photo competition about Serengeti, in which my picture lionchilds won the second price. It was made during the late evening, with the last warm light - a group of lions were lying in the grass, the lioness took a rest, around five children, suddenly two of them got up and went together towards another female lion. She appreciated them very heartily, but for playing she was much to lazy. (12.8.2005)

I am pleased to present my magic moments website just now that spring has come. After years of taking photos, of travelling and after several months of slipping through my archives and picking pictures, I finished 5 out of 8 galleries (the others will follow later this year). From a stay in Serengeti and some neighbouring national parks in February 2005 I took many new wildlife-photos home. You’ll find first impressions in the Africa-Gallery, but most photos are still in the workshop and will be published on the website this summer.
